Welcome Leon Erickson — CSTC’s New General Manager

July 28, 2025

Dear CSTC Team and Member Communities,

We are pleased to announce that Leon Erickson will be joining the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council as our new General Manager, effective August 18.

Leon comes to CSTC with extensive experience in leadership, education, governance, and community development. Most recently, he served as Director of Education and Principal at Jean Marie Joseph School for Yekooche First Nation, where he oversaw school operations, post-secondary advancement, and community training initiatives. Leon has also contributed significantly to Indigenous education through his roles with School District #57, where he helped develop Dakelh curriculum and supported students and families as a teacher and vice-principal at Nusdeh Yoh Elementary.

In addition to his work in education, Leon’s leadership has strengthened community wellness through his time with ISPARC as Northeast Regional Sport Coordinator, where he coordinated youth development camps, built community leadership capacity, and supported sport and cultural opportunities for First Nations communities across the region. He has also worked with Parks Canada, engaging Elders and youth to preserve and share traditional knowledge and practices.

Leon holds a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Arts from UNBC, a Project Management Certificate, and will soon complete his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Vancouver Island University.

As General Manager, Leon will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure CSTC’s mandates and strategic priorities are carried out with transparency, accountability, and respect. He will guide policy implementation, supervise our teams, strengthen Nation-based governance, and support transformative change that benefits our member Nations.

Leon has shared that he is dedicated to using his leadership, connection to culture, and collaborative approach to create space for growth, harmony, and innovation in the workplace. His commitment to Nation Building and his passion for supporting people and communities align with CSTC’s vision and values.

Please join us in welcoming Leon Erickson to the CSTC family. We look forward to working together under his leadership to continue building a strong future for our Nations.

Congratulations and welcome, Leon!
